a baby shower that sparkles

I am a big believer that every baby deserves a baby shower. It’s such a fun way to bring together friends and family to celebrate the arrival of a new addition. Growing up in a family that LOVES themed parties, we have always done baby showers up big. From Mary Poppins to Garden Party and Betty Boop to Friends, we like to take fun themes and plan amazing events where the details are everything. The baby shower my mom and sisters threw for this little man was nothing short of wonderful with a fun, glitzy theme of Baby New Year.

When we arrived for the event, there was a bit of a hiccup with the venue. They had inadvertently double booked and there was already a major scrap booking party going on. Now, this could have been a total nightmare, but we tend to roll with the punches whenever mistakes happen and this was no different. We opted to share the room with the lovely scrap booking ladies and they were super gracious about it. Problem solved!

The shower was hosted in the afternoon, so we had light snacks, delicious cupcakes (made by my momma), and the most gorgeous cookies from @jennscookiejar. Decor was sweet, simple, and oh so sparkly. I just loved the adorable diaper cake that my dad (yes, really!) made for the table. Complete with a top hat, it was the perfect addition to the main table AND it’s also super functional after the event. I’m set with newborn diapers for at least a week when baby arrives. Woohoo!

Now, let’s talk about my outfit. I knew that I wanted to wear something fun and different that made me feel sassy, even at 7+ months pregnant. I took a chance and ordered this super sparkly dress in November, hoping that it would arrive from overseas in time for my shower. To my surprise, it arrived with plenty of time to spare and fit beautifully. It is a pretty true to size body con dress, so I sized up one for the bump. The dress is fully lined and has good stretch, so it was comfy all afternoon long. I kept my accessories pretty simple with some black drop earrings, a lace bralette, opaque tights, and some amazing velvet booties with gold star detail. The booties were on clearance at DSW and I can’t find them anymore, so I linked a super similar pair here.

I was so fortunate to have a wonderful group of family and friends attend the shower and bring us beautiful gifts. It’s always such a pleasure for me to unwrap gifts and see what our guests took the time to choose (or make) for our little man. He is definitely going to have everything he needs upon arrival into this world and we are so incredibly grateful.

After a wonderful afternoon of games, food, gifts, and girl talk, I left with a full cup and a full heart. I feel so fortunate to have so many amazing people in my life who came together to celebrate our baby boy. I cannot wait for him to feel the love that we do when he makes his arrival in just a few short weeks. xoxo
